Serene winter landscape painting that instills calmness and serenity. 

This painting was inspired by the beauty of Canadian winters. It depicts a pristine, serene winter scene with a beautiful blue sky in the Toronto French School ravine in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

To many, winter is a dreary and desolate season. To me, winter is not dreary nor desolate, but rather a unique type of landscape with an almost surreal colour scheme and complex shadows. Details otherwise hidden, such as the forms and intricacies of branches, are highlighted in this painting. I focused especially on the shadows and highlights of snow which drapes over branches in a cloth-like manner. To me, this painting celebrates that first snowfall, untouched by human footprints or machinery. It depicts  a very calm and peaceful, almost dreamlike atmosphere where time is suspended, and otherwise hidden details come to life.

It is painted on masonite board and framed in an elegant black wood frame, ready to be displayed.
